Adonis Heights Supports Stand4Love Cause

s4l logo white background Adonis Heights Supports Stand4Love Cause

The fight for equal rights for the GLBT community has been a long struggle though each progress made has been a victory. Recently, Gays and Lesbians are NOW able to serve in the United States Armed Forces without being harassed or expelled as they had been for years. Can you even believe it that a United States President Obama supports Marriage Equality for everyone at the risk of losing his Presidential Re-election? I believe times are changing for the better and everyone is starting to realize that people should be granted basic human civil rights that most people just take for granted. The right to love and marry should be available to any adult couples in a loving relationship who just wants to build a life together. Why is this too much to ask?

There are still gay confused kids committing suicides all over the world because they are being harassed and bullied. Gay people are still being unfairly discriminated at their jobs and communities. They are being attacked and killed on the streets for being who they are. Some parts of the world, they are being jailed and persecuted by the government. WHY IS THIS STILL HAPPENING IN THE WORLD TODAY???

STAND4LOVE strongly supports Marriage Equality for everyone because people need to see that gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgendered people are human beings too, who are capable to love and be in committed long term loving healthy relationships. I just think we all are human beings with the same heart wanting to love and be loved in return.

FASHION FOR LIFE 2013 opens for one week of non-stop, boundary-breaking, uplifting, shop-till-you-drop, dazzling entertaining events – the magnitude of which we guarantee you have never before experienced – beginning Saturday, March 9 at 12:00 p.m. SLT and ending on March 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. SLT with a colossal closing party!

Our goal is to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s RELAY FOR LIFE, the world’s (and SL’s) largest non-profit event which supports, promotes awareness, and gives hope to the millions of people around the globe battling the ravages of cancer on a daily basis – the patients, caregivers, families, research teams, and medical professionals at the forefront of the war against this abysmal disease.

For one week we will come together, celebrate life, honor memories, have a lot of fun, and make a difference. Your jaw will literally drop when you behold architecture inspired by the “Seven Wonders of the World” on NINE Sims designed and built by immensely talented and distinguished SL craftsmen – filled to capacity with art, beauty, color, music, entertainers (including a fire and light show, and fashion shows by SL’s top agencies) that will permeate your senses with the captivating enchantment and breathtaking magic that is FASHION FOR LIFE WEEK!

Second Life Tip: How to cut your prim count in half!

I would like to share with you, a neat little trick that allows you to significantly lower the land impact on prim content created within Second Life – even cutting the land impact in half in some cases (depending on the complexity of the build).

Since the introduction of Mesh, Second Life has been using a new content weight measuring system. Instead of objects having a “Prim Count” they now show “Land Impact.” It is possible to lower the land impact on prim-built objects in-world by changing the object feature Physical Shape Type from ‘Prim’ to ‘Convex Hull.’

Follow these steps to try it out for yourself…

01) Rez a Cube

02) Rez another Cube

03) Link the Cubes together (Notice that Land Impact shows 2)

04) In the Build Window, select the ‘Features’ Tab and change ‘Physical Shape Type’ from ‘Prim’ to ‘Convex Hull’ (Notice that the Land Impact drops to 1)

Congratulations – Now you know how to reduce Land Impact on prim-built objects in Second Life. Be aware though that more complex objects built using heavily manipulated prims may actually increase Land Impact when changed from ‘Prim’ to ‘Convex Hull’

Another good way to test this is to rez any modifiable prim building from your inventory. Edit the building and change the features ‘Physical Shape Type’ from ‘Prim’ to ‘Convex Hull’ – Pay attention to the Land Impact and you’ll find in most cases your building’s land impact would be half of that it was before. If your build contains complex objects that actually increase the land impact on this settings, simply edit linked parts and keep those complex objects as ‘Prim’ – You are able to have both ‘Prim’ and ‘Convex Hull’ features in the same build so play around with the setting and see where you can reduce land impact.

I hope that you’ll find this trick as helpful as I have. Here’s to Prim Saving! Happy Building!

It’s all about Perspective

Snapshot 011 625x348 Its all about Perspective

I’d like to touch on the topic of virtual living in Second Life once again. You see, I’ve been dealing with this crazy inner battle where part of me wants to leave my virtual life behind to focus only on real things, while another part of me believes that the relationships forged and moments shared inside the virtual world are real and that my avatar is a part of me. Some people find it very easy to distinguish, differentiate and balance the real with the virtual but I seem to lack some perspective.

A friend of mine told me that the way I perceive things are often incorrect and that I lack some much needed perspective. I’ve come to realize that he’s right. But where do I go from here? It’s as if I am living in my own fairytale world where the real and the virtual are so mashed together that I can no longer distinguish the two. I’m living in a world where I see and refer to my avatar as ‘me’ and perceive whatever happens in the virtual world as real. So much for ending my virtual life, right? I’m right back there where I started. Will this ever end?

I guess that I have somewhat of an addictive personality in the sense that whenever I get into anything, I take it to the extreme. This has been the case with everything in my life. While taking things to extremes can be great in certain situations, it can also be very destructive. The more I psychoanalyze myself, the more I realize that I need to establish balance and perspective in my life if I am to ever progress to anything I’d be proud of. It’s not that I’m not proud of what I’ve accomplished thus far, it’s just that I know that I can do and be so much more in both the real and the virtual world if I can only find balance instead of aimlessly drifting from one extreme to another. Perhaps the right perspective will help me establish balance and thus open the doors to true inspiration and opportunity.

Where does one go from here? How does one find the right perspective? Is there anyone else out there who have also struggled with this and can shed some light on the situation or am I just a lone crazy monkey stuck inside a reality distortion field? I guess the fact that I know something is wrong with this situation is a good thing. It’s like where they make drug addicts admit they have a problem and that they need help. Perhaps now that I’ve admitted that I need balance and lack perspective, it’s the first step towards recovery. Or maybe I’m perfectly normal and there’s nothing wrong or weird with the way that I live my life. It’s all about perspective. Thanks for reading my thoughts. xoxo

St Leviathan Boys College Demolition Party (Aug 2012)

St Leviathans Boys College in Second Life, one of the grid’s most popular Gay RP establishments is undergoing some exciting changes. The old campus has been demolished to make space for a brand new campus designed for greater comfort, privacy and convenience. In typical Taylor2 Spyker / Jungleboys fashion, big changes don’t happen without a fucking amazing party to build some hype for the awesomeness that awaits. Instead of simply locking the region to remove the old and install the new; a demolition party was held where the boys came together and danced the night away while the building exploded and collapsed around them with the help from some powerful explosives and extraterrestrials.

Just in case you’ve missed the awesome party, here are some snapshots showcasing the demolition from start to end, with the final image of the gallery showing what’s to come with the new improved virtual campus…

The new campus, designed by Dae Hayachi (daemyn.parx), is already taking shape with student dorms already available for occupation.  Visit the new campus at SLURL: St Leviathans College (150,76,21) - not a member of Second Life? Sign up for a free account…

The end of my Virtual Life

It’s funny how I always get the urge to write when I’m really tired. Perhaps this is a good way to overcome writers-block and actually finish my novel, who knows? Writing in over-tired zombie mode could either be really creative and imaginative or it could be a total disaster. There’s only one way to find out, but I’ll leave that for another day. Right now I just want to share some recent news with you.

In all honesty, not much has changed since my last personal blog update. I’m still a hermit, still single and still working on what I’ve been working on. I have however, made an important decision that should drastically improve my life over the coming months…

Remember how I blogged about why I chose to live a virtual life? Well, after much deliberation I’ve finally come to realize that by living a virtual life I was actually wasting my life. Since becoming addicted to Second Life back in 2007, I’ve never thought that I’d actually see the day where I’d say ‘enough, it’s over.’ But that day has come. For far too long I have invested far too much time, energy and money into virtual living that would’ve taken me to great success in the real world, if only I hadn’t waste it all on fake pixel stuffs.

The virtual world that had first seemed to be a modern matrix-like safe haven of imagination and creative freedom has degraded my life down to the point where I’ve become a hermit, never leaving the house unless I absolutely have to, afraid to deal with real people, not having any friends in the nearby physical world, giving up my real world business to focus only on my virtual life, spending thousands of dollars on virtual goods instead of real clothes and electronics, and thinking that it’s all OK, that it’s normal. Maybe I just took things to the extreme? Maybe there are people who can balance living in both the virtual and the real world without hassle? Either way, I’ve woken up and realized that it was destroying me. It is time to put an end to the madness, time to unplug, time to wake up to reality and to take control of my life, my REAL life.

My premium membership will only expire in a few months so I’ll still be logging on from time to time to catch up with friends and to cash out or give any virtual currency. I’ve got nothing against those who still love and live in Second Life but, it’s not for me and I have to move on to things that can bring real joy. I can understand the great value of living a virtual life if you’re disabled or suffering from serious health issues but for me I see no point in living a virtual life. I’m young, healthy and talented with my whole life in front of me. Throwing away physical awesomeness for a pixel perfect virtual life is really just a waste. Second Life is a fun game or virtual art installation that I could log into from time to time but that’s about it. To live a virtual life as if it were my own is unnatural. I have woken up to reality and this is where I choose to stay.

Getting out of this ditch that I’ve “virtually” lived myself into is going to take some time. I’ll have to start getting used to dealing with real people again, going out to real clubs and hanging out with real friends, although this shouldn’t be too difficult, right? It’s only been a couple of yours since I’ve had any such interaction (apart from the occasional shopping and dining-out with my family and boyfriend).  I guess you’ll have to stay tuned to follow me as I quest to find my way back to reality (LOL?). – On the contrary, maybe I’m pulling this way out of proportion? Either way I know that I’ve had enough of the fake pixel bullshit and I want REAL awesomeness. Goodbye virtual life.
