I’ve been blogging and tweeting about singing for a while, but I’ve never actually put any my songs online, until now. You see, it’s been a while since I’ve performed in front of anyone and even though I’ve been practicing like crazy lately; it took some real courage to actually record something to upload. Last night after recording I felt really anxious, my stomach turned and I became a nervous wreck because I realized that I was about to share my voice with the world for the first time in a very long time. – Virtual “stage fright” if you will.

The last time I shared my voice with anyone other than my immediate family was many years ago when I used to sing in church, regional religious holiday gatherings and once I even performed on an International Christian Satellite TV network. A lot of time has passed since then; I’ve even opened my mind to accept the reality of the word, thereby dropping my religion. I didn’t want to dig up and upload old gospel music just to share my voice, I had to record something new.

Unfortunately I don’t have access to a professional studio. The vocal recording was done here at my home using a standard built-in computer mic, then I sent the separate vocal and music files to a friend who worked his magic to put it all together as best he could, even with the terrible sound quality from my computer mic vocal recordings. It’s not perfect, but it’s a start. Have a listen…

I plan on using some of my savings to purchase a decent microphone so that I can make better home recordings. If all goes as planned I’ll be recording a few more covers from different genres so that you guys can hear what my voice sounds like with different styles of music. Then, I’ll be working with someone to write and produce original songs, professionally. – It’s all finally coming together and I’m loving every minute of life. Now if only I can actually get focussed enough to finish writing my novel and save up enough money to join a drama school then I’ll be doing everything I’ve wanted to do since I was 8 years old.

It’s never too late to follow one’s dreams!
