I’ve blogged about this on every blog that I’ve ever had since 2006, and I will post it again! I believe that iChat(mac) AIM(win) us a much better IM client then MSN, and here’s why:
- When transferring files on MSN, it often times out, in which case you need to re-send the entire file, there is no resume option. iChat/AIM gives you the ability to resume a file, so should the connection be lost, you can instantly re-connect without having to start the transfer all over again.
- Don’t you ever get sick of “This message could not be delivered” when sending IM’s in MSN? Or MSN losing its connection entirely after which you are required to sign in again? This does NOT happen with iChat/AIM! If you want a stable IM client then avoid MSN! iChat/AIM is the answer.
- I’m sure you’ve got a few people on your MSN buddy list that randomly posts ads to websites then go offline, Guess what, those aren’t your friends’ doing, those are MSN spam/viruses/hacks/etc… I’ve ended up muting so many people on my list because of this, and the sad part is that they don’t even know it! (reinstalling your MSN wont fix this). My suggestion? Forget about MSN, use iChat/AIM!
I’m not just saying this because I’m an ‘Apple Fan Boy’ and because I absolutely love iChat, but im saying this because people need to WAKE UP, and stop using old school communication methods that are faulty, switch to something that actually does what it’s supposed to do… iChat/AIM compared to MSN is like trying to compare Web2.0 with the old tables web layouts. Not hot.
So, the conclusion; If you’ve got a mac, open iChat and log in with your .Mac/MobileMe account, if you don’t have either of those, then go to http://www.aim.com and get yourself a free aim account. You can also use Google Talk or any other Jabber compatible service with iChat. – If you’ve got a windows machine, go to http://www.aim.com and download the AIM client for windows. – OH AND… SHARE THIS POST WITH YOUR FRIENDS!!
Now, for those who are already using iChat – Feel free to add me: [email protected] – Looking forward to some fun chatting…
