Less is more, unless we’re talking about booze, shoes, money, or penis, in which case, more is more, and more is awesome! There’s no such thing as too much of a good thing. It’s all about MORE! But when it comes to modern design for online media; less is definitely more.

I am pleased to present the redesigned DAVIDVENTER.NET, inspired by the minimal black/white/red design trend seen across the majority of online fashion and lifestyle media today.

This specific content structure and color palette was inspired by the website design of famous fashion blogger Bryanboy and the NOWMANIFEST group of sites.  I absolutely LOVE reading those blogs, not just because of the great content, but also because they are easy on the eyes. I wanted to bring that same reader experience here to my own blog, and I think I did a pretty good job, even if I have to say so myself.

This new blog design removes unnecessary space, clutter, and distracting colors, to bring full focus to the content in crisp, clear formatting. I’ve also optimized this layout for mobile devices, so reading on a smartphone or tablet should be a pleasant experience.

The appearance of my blog has come a long way over the years. I’ve gone through so many different designs that I can’t even remember half of them. I did, however, save some screenshots of what my blog previously looked like.

Presenting The Evolution of DAVIDVENTER.NET…

Those are but 4 designs out of lawd knows how many. I went a bit crazy with frequent redesigns. I must’ve redesigned my site at least twice a year, if not more, with the latest and most recognized design being the 2014 layout with huge banner area. I think that last design was probably the one that I kept the longest, but it was overwhelmingly large and difficult to read for some people due to the ultra-thin font that I used for the content. It really only looked good on Retina Displays. I had to make a drastic change.

It had to become uncluttered and clean. I had to take the “less is more” approach, and I did…

I hope to stick with this specific design for quite a while, perhaps even a couple of years. I might get rid of the black borders and sidebars entirely, turning it into a single column, content-focused interface, but I plan on sticking with the minimalist black/white/red style.

Now you know why I haven’t been blogging much this week, it’s because I’ve been working on this new design. You’re welcome.

I hope that you will enjoy viewing content on this new blog design as much as I enjoy creating it.

Time to celebrate by rewarding myself with a fap and a nap. Till next time ~ much love. xoxo
