John, developer of Desk, prompted the community over at the Desk Community & Support forums to write and respond to the following quote:

If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot…reading is the creative center of a writer’s life…you cannot hope to sweep someone else away by the force of your writing until it has been done to you.” ~ Stephen King

This is partially true. I say partially, because I started writing long before I got into reading and long before I even had any proper lessons in composition and grammar. However, I never wrote more than a couple of badly constructed lines at a time. It was only when I started reading quality content, that I started writing longer, more thought-provoking content myself.

If you want to become a writer; write some lines. If you want to become a GREAT writer; follow Stephen King’s quote. Reading quality content didn’t kickstart my will to write but it definitely made me a better writer.
