Life will throw some unexpected curves in your journey. If we are not disciplined and don’t have the ability to adapt to unexpected changes, those unexpected situations will throw you for a loop. This race, called life, is not given to the swift, nor to the strong but to those who endure to the end. After I learned these 6 simple tips to help me to stay on task so that I can achieve my goals, my life went from default mode to design mode.
The ultimate tip to staying on task is to have discipline in your everyday life. If you are not disciplined, you life will feel rushed and out of control.
Tip #1– Establish your priorities.
What are your priorities? What things are important to you, in order? For me, my partner comes first, family second and my career and business comes last. Establishing a list of priorities will allow you to have some type of discipline in your life.
Tip #2– Establish your goals.
Ask yourself this question, “If you knew I could not fail, what would I do?” Where would you go? When would you do it? For your goals to be dynamic, you must make it specific. Establish a list of goals for your Personal life, Family life and Business life. Having written goals will help you to succeed much quicker than those who do not take the time to write them down.
Tip #3– Manage your time wisely.
Managing your time wisely is so important when it comes to accomplishing the goals you have set. When you know what your priorities are and have specific goals set in place, you must set aside some time to work toward them. The reason you do not possess the things you want out of life right now is because you have been unwilling to sow the seeds of time and effort to produce them. Respect the specific time you have given for a specific task and you will reach your specific goal a lot faster.
Tip #4– Establish a plan to accomplish your goal.
If you do not have a plan, then you plan to fail. Write down the steps you will take to accomplish your goals. If your goal is to go back and finish school, what steps would you take to get there? Look at the end and work backwards to where you want to be. For instance, compile a list of schools you would like to attend, find out the requirements for enrollment, how much it would cost, schedule a visit to the campus and fill out the applications and all other required documents.
Tip #5– Do Not allow distractions to keep you from staying on task.
If it is not an emergency and/or is not tied to your goals, then do not give it your attention. The purpose of establishing priorities and setting goals is to have a focus. If you are truly disciplined in your priorities and are focused on your goals, then distractions will not hinder you from completing your tasks.
Tip #6– Work on your goals everyday.
If you persist everyday toward your goals, stay focused and not allow distractions, you will have success. Do not allow lame excuses to keep you from achieving your goals. If you look at your life and it is not how you want it to be, chances are that you have made an excuse as to why your life is not designed the way you want it.
Bonus Tip – Be a savvy spender.
On your road to success it is important to be a savvy spender, outwit your bank and choose a card that suits you best.
Life will throw unexpected curves in your journey, just to see how you will react toward them. If you stay focused on the end result of your goal, then those unexpected curves will not slow you down or stop you. It is important to remember that if it has nothing to do with your goals, leave it alone and let it go. You must learn how to accept the things you cannot change, have the courage to change the things you can and the wisdom to know the difference.
