In an emerging movement to save our forests; companies are producing natural recyclable products made of wood, and pledging to plant a tree for every product sold. Last month, I shared an article about a wood watch maker. Now, I’d like to introduce you to Woodzee: a California based company that is producing stunning wood sunglasses and, at the same time, replenishing forests world-wide through The Trees Project.
I’ve actually just ordered myself a new pair of plastic designer sunglasses not too long ago and I’m still waiting for them to arrive. Had I discovered Woodzee a few weeks ago I would’ve probably ordered wood sunglasses from them instead. I mean, just look at this beauty…
This is but one of over 50 different designs currently available from Woodzee. I’ll have to get a pair or two, or five, or fifty, on my next online shopping spree. What? Don’t judge me. LOL.
As you know, I’m a huge nature lover and I always get upset when nature is destroyed for the sake of profit. I often feel guilty about purchasing items that contain animal products or that are produced by companies that have no regards to nature conservation. Ok, fine, this statement might seem slightly hypocritical since you’re probably well aware of the leather shoes and calfskin briefcase in my possession – that is, if you’ve been following my blog since the dawn of time – and if not, well… Now you know. But, that doesn’t mean that I don’t feel guilty about the objects of my obsession possibly having destroyed a part of nature during their production process, or the companies who produce then not doing anything to restore what they’ve destroyed. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who feels a little bit guilty about how we’re raiding the planet?
We can now feel less guilty about the negative affects that fashion accessory production has on the environment by purchasing natural recyclable products from companies who pledge to restore nature. During their checkout process, Woodzee allows you to play an active roll in replenishing forests by enabling you to choose on which continent you’d like to have a new tree planted. Woodzee then donates a portion of the proceeds to a select group of non-profit organizations that conduct tree planting projects across the globe. The company also offers a recycling program that allows you to return any Woodzee products to them – which they’ll then recycle and provide you with a 40% discount off your next Woodzee product purchase. This is awesome for fashionistas wanting to stay on top of the latest sunglass trends. If you get bored with your current pair; you can send it in to be recycled, get a discount on your next pair, and have another tree planted, thereby playing your part in conserving nature. How awesome is that?! Check out woodzee.com for more info on The Trees Project and to view their entire current collection of wood sunglasses.
